Founders Peg Tileston and Rod Cameron were honored in Seattle earlier this fall for their work establishing Trustees for Alaska.

This December is very special to Trustees for Alaska. It marks the 40th anniversary of our founding. Many people played a role back in those early days, but none more than Anchorage icon, Peg Tileston, and the Environmental Defense Fund’s Executive Director, Rod Cameron. They saw a gap in the Alaska conservationists’ toolbelt—the ability to enforce the law to protect Alaska’s environment. With foundation funding and local support, Trustees for Alaska went from idea to institution.

For four decades, Trustees for Alaska has taken on state and federal governments and big industry. We don’t always win, but we always make a difference. Those that would ignore constitutions, statutes, and regulations, think twice before polluting Alaska’s pristine environment and taking on enforcement by Trustees for Alaska.

As we look back over the decades, Trustees for Alaska has fought many battles and utilized many strategies to defend Alaska’s natural enviroment for the future. While all of our cases over the four decades are important, we’ve highlighted a few of our cases for each of those decades.

You make a difference to Trustees for Alaska. You make a difference to Alaska.

Thank you for all of the support you give us to defend Alaska’s lands, waters, wildlife, and people.

Enjoy your holidays!
